Installation of evoLIGHT operating lights for a perinatal center

Perinatal Center, Kyiv
Client: Perinatal Center, Kyiv
The perinatal center needed to modernize the lighting in its operating rooms to ensure maximum precision during complex neonatal procedures. The old equipment did not provide adequate color rendering and created unwanted shadows, which increased the strain on surgeons' eyesight.
Key results
98%
Color Rendering Index (CRI), ensuring a natural appearance of tissues.
0
Shadows in the surgical field thanks to the active shadow control system.
12 hours
Of continuous operation without equipment overheating or staff discomfort.
By 40%
Reduced energy consumption due to the use of high-efficiency LED modules.

About client

The Regional Clinical Hospital is a multidisciplinary medical facility providing specialized care to patients from across the entire region. It features over 20 departments, including intensive care, surgery, and therapy. Serving hundreds of patients daily, a stable medical gas supply is critically important for the continuous operation and safety of the treatment process.

About the Client
Installation of evoLIGHT operating lights for a perinatal center

Detailed Problem Description

Prior to the project implementation, the hospital relied on a cylinder-based oxygen supply system. This created several issues:

  • Supply Instability. During peak loads, delays in oxygen cylinder deliveries occurred, posing risks to intensive care units and operating theaters.

  • High Dependency on Logistics. Daily transportation and replacement of cylinders required additional resources, specialized vehicles, and dedicated staff.

  • Financial Losses. Constant procurement, transportation, and maintenance of cylinders increased overall operational costs.

  • Safety Concerns. Storing a large number of high-pressure cylinders on the hospital grounds increased the risk of emergencies.

  • Limited Autonomy. In the event of supply chain disruptions, the hospital only had enough oxygen reserves for a few days.

These factors complicated the work of medical staff and threatened the continuity of the treatment process. Consequently, the facility's management decided to switch to an autonomous oxygen generation system, implemented in partnership with Medion Group.

Client Goals and Expectations

The hospital management sought to move from dependency on external oxygen suppliers to a fully autonomous system that would guarantee an uninterrupted supply of medical gases under any conditions.

Main project goals:

  • Ensure a continuous oxygen supply for all hospital departments, including intensive care units and operating theaters.

  • Reduce logistics and cylinder procurement costs by optimizing operational processes.

  • Increase safety levels by minimizing risks associated with cylinder storage and transportation.

  • Comply with modern medical infrastructure standards and Ministry of Health requirements.

  • Implement an energy-efficient and easy-to-maintain solution ensuring stable system operation for many years.

The client's expectations were that following project implementation, the hospital would become independent of external factors, have power reserves for peak loads, and achieve a long-term reduction in operational costs.

Results and benefits

Quantitative indicators (comparison "before" and "after"):
Results and benefits
After Medion system implementation
  • In-house oxygen production with OGP generator
  • Up to 10 days of autonomous operation
  • 40-50% cost reduction
  • Full process automation
  • 0 incidents since system startup

Qualitative Indicators:

  • Hospital continuity. The system guarantees a stable 24/7 oxygen supply without dependency on external providers.
  • Enhanced safety. The elimination of numerous oxygen cylinders has reduced the risks of emergencies.
  • Operational efficiency. Staff no longer spend time on logistics and inventory control — everything is automated.
  • Economic benefit. Reduced operating costs and stable equipment performance have shortened the project's ROI to 2.5 years.
  • Eco-friendliness. On-site oxygen production reduces the carbon footprint as regular cylinder transportation is no longer required.
  • Improved quality of medical services. Thanks to a stable oxygen supply, doctors can work without the risk of interruptions in critical departments.
